Spouse | Partner Visa

You can apply for a Spouse/Partner visa if you are married (or co-habiting as an unmarried couple) to a British citizen or a person who has indefinite leave to remain/settled status.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Both you and your partner are over the age of 18
  • You are legally married or in a civil partnership that is recognised by the UK or have been living together for at least 2 years as an unmarried couple
  • You have passed an approved English language test
  • You have adequate accommodation
  • You fulfil the financial requirement

Financial requirement:

  • Annual income of £18,600 or
  • Cash savings of £62,500
  • Combination of the above

If dependent children (aged under 18) need to apply for a visa, you will need to show an extra income of £3,800 for the first child and £2,400 for each additional child.

Income can include the following:

  • Earnings from employment
  • Earnings from self-employment or as a Director of a limited Company
  • Cash savings above £16,000
  • Pension
  • Non-employment income, e.g. income from property rental or dividends from shares

You will initially be granted leave for 30 months and after completing 5 years in the UK, you could be eligible to apply for settlement.
